Getting started

StrumBuddy listens to your acoustic guitar and coaches you as you play. On first launch it asks for microphone access — that's how it hears your guitar to tune, follow along, and check how cleanly you're playing. Then just tap into your daily session and play.

Frequently asked questions

StrumBuddy can't hear my guitar.
Make sure microphone access is enabled: open the iOS Settings app → StrumBuddy → turn on Microphone. Play in a reasonably quiet room and keep the phone near the guitar.

Does it need an internet connection?
No. StrumBuddy works entirely offline. Nothing is sent to a server.

What kind of guitar works?
StrumBuddy is built for acoustic guitar (steel- or nylon-string). An electric guitar played acoustically nearby can work too, but acoustic gives the best results.

Is my data private?
Yes. StrumBuddy doesn't collect personal data, and your microphone audio is processed on your device and never recorded or sent anywhere. See our Privacy Policy.

How do I reset my progress?
Your practice history lives on your device. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears it and starts fresh.
